Now Playing: ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN | GUARDIAN Character Gameplay Trailer

Ishizaki explained that Nightreign is balanced for people to play solo or with groups of three. With From Software spending so much time and attention trying to nail the experience for solo and three-player co-op, this meant two-player co-op wasn't considered.

"In putting all our efforts into that aspect, we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect," Ishizaki said.

Ishizaki explained that two-player co-op is "something we are looking at and considering" for a post-launch update. Nothing is confirmed, however.

Also in the interview, Ishizaki discussed taking over the reins from Hidetaka Miyazaki to become the game director on Nightreign and revealed the advice that Miyazaki gave him.

Nightreign launches May 30 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC for $40. It's a standalone spin-off developed by From Software, following the gigantic success of Elden Ring.
