The Krull 4K Steelbook is up for preorder ahead of its September 16 release

Relive 1983's Sci-Fi Classic Krull With New Steelbook 4K Blu-Ray

The Krull 4K Steelbook includes 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and digital formats of the film. It supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, which should make it one of the best ways to rewatch the movie in 2025. Of course, you're also getting a flashy steelbook, which features artwork across the front, back, and interior of the case. It's arguably the coolest way to show off Krull in your collection, though the existing Vintage DVD looks pretty great (but you'll have to put up with DVD quality).

Preordering makes you eligible for any price cuts between now and release, and you won't pay until the Blu-ray ships.

Krull 4K Steelbook Bonus Features

If you're hoping for a long list of bonus features, you might be a bit disappointed by what's offered here. You'll get a few documentaries and featurettes--but compared to some other steelbooks, this one is a bit light. Still, you'll get a chance to go behind the scenes of the movie's production and listen to a variety of commentaries from folks involved in its production.

Note that these are offered in standard Blu-ray:

  • Audio commentary with director Peter Yates, actors Ken Marshall and Lysette Anthony, and editor Ray Lovejoy
  • Behind-the-scenes commentary
  • Journey to Krull featurette
  • Theatrical trailer

Krull follows a young prince as he and some companions set out to rescue his bride-to-be from a horde of alien invaders. It's a wild combination of sci-fi and fantasy, and remains a unique film all these years later. It's a campy adventure--and while it didn't impress critics back in 1983--it's a fun romp for fans of either genre.
