New To Zelda On Switch 2? Here's How To Save Nearly $20 On Tears Of The Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom--with all of their upgrades--aren't cheap on Switch 2, but there is a way to save some cash on these legendary games at a better price
Nintendo is taking a different stance when it comes to launch games for the Switch 2, as instead of dropping a bunch of them all at once on June 5, it's rolling out first-party titles at a more gradual pace throughout the year. The silver lining here is that you'll get more time to check out other games on the system, and if you've been looking play the critically acclaimed Legend of Zelda games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for the first time, the Switch 2 will offer the best graphical experience for you.
The catch here is that the "new" Switch 2 editions retail for a standard MSRP in line with brand-new Nintendo game releases--$70 for Breath of the Wild and $80 for Tears of the Kingdom--but you can save some cash by grabbing the Switch 1 version and the $10 upgrade pack instead.
Reminder: If you already own these games, you simply need to buy the $10 upgrade for each.
Tears of the Kingdom originally launched for $70, but the price has dropped to $52 at Amazon and Walmart. Amazon's deal is sold by its subsidiary, Woot, but ships from Amazon's warehouse. Walmart's deal is sold and shipped by Walmart.
Add in the upgrade pack from the eShop, and new players will save $17 overall by using this method.
Tears of the Kingdom for Switch 2:
- Switch physical edition + $10 upgrade = $62
- Switch 2 physical edition = $79
- Saves you $17 overall
Sure, it might be more than eight years old, but Breath of the Wild is still a must-play game on both Switch and Switch 2. Despite its age, Breath of the Wild still sells for full price most of the time, so the deal here doesn't offer as big of savings. You can buy a physical copy of Breath of the Wild from Walmart for $52.55. This offer is from a third-party seller, but your order will be fulfilled by Walmart.
While the discount isn't as big as the Tears of the Kingdom deal, you're still saving some bucks in the end, which you can choose to spend on other Switch 2 purchases.
Breath of the Wild for Switch 2:
- Switch physical edition + $10 upgrade = $62.55
- Switch 2 physical edition = $69
- Saves you $6.45 overall
