If you're interested in these unique editions of Harry Potter, you should know that you won't be able to complete your set of MinaLima Harry Potter books. After this collection was revealed earlier this year, Scholastic announced that the interactive edition Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will have a new illustrator.

It will be interesting to see if Scholastic winds up releasing new versions of the first three books to ensure uniformity (readers love matching sets). Studio MinaLima designed the props for the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts adaptations, so its history with Harry Potter dates back further than the interactive books. There's even a MinaLima-designed book about the studio's work with the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies; The Magic of MinaLima is available for $26.53 (was $50) at Amazon.

And while the books are unique compared to the many other editions of Harry Potter, MinaLima created similar editions of other popular books before Sorcerer's Stone. MinaLima's catalog includes beautiful editions of classic children's books, including Peter Pan (2015), The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Little Mermaid (2018), Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (2020), The Wizard of Oz (2021), and more. If you take a look at any of those books, you'll see the studio has a distinct style. If the Harry Potter interactive editions simply continue, it seems likely readers would be able to notice the change when moving from book three to four.

The Harry Potter series is one of the most popular media franchises of the last few decades, but its reputation has been tarnished in recent years due to repeated transphobic statements from the series' author and creator, J.K. Rowling. As the owner of the Harry Potter IP, she directly profits from sales of Harry Potter books, merch, and other licensed projects even if she was not directly involved in their creation. We encourage readers to read this post that explains more about how Rowling's statements harm the global trans community.
