Now Playing: The Complete Resident Evil Timeline Explained

Resident Evil 4 was a gigantic hit, both in 2005 and each subsequent time the game was re-released, and remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 launched with dynamic, third-person camera angles in 2019 and 2020. The Resident Evil 2 remake has sold over 15 million copies since then, making it the third-most-successful games in Capcom's history.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village switched to a first-person camera angle, providing more intimate scares and claustrophobic action. Resident Evil Village went on to sell over 11 million copies since launching in 2021, proving that fans would eat up the scares Capcom provided no matter the camera angle.

We played Requiem for a short time and came away with more questions than answers, leaving us hungry for the full experience. Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 26, 2026.
