Smite 2 Goes Free To Play Today After Months In Paid Early Access

Smite 2 initially launched in Early Access on August 27. The third-person MOBA required players to buy at the low end a Founder's Edition for $30, upping in price from there with a Deluxe Founder's Edition for $60 or Ultimate Founder's Edition at $100. Each of these paid options offers complete access to all of Smite 2's gods.

It's been just over a year since Smite 2 was revealed. The sequel utilizes Unreal Engine 5 and has 11 big changes over its predecessor.

In October, publisher Hi-Rez Studios laid off an undisclosed number of employees, as the past couple of years have been brutal for employees at video game companies. At the time of the Hi-Rez layoffs, the company said it was shifting its focus away from Smite and Paladins and toward Smite 2.
