Madame Web Is Not Off To A Good Start At The Box Office
The superhero movie is being outperformed by the Bob Marley biopic
According to THR, Madame Web had a budget of $80 million, though the site's sources said it could actually be as high as $120 million--and that's before advertising expenses are factored in. When the long weekend's final figures come in, it won't necessarily be easy to compare to Sony's other Spider Man universe movies or superhero films in general due to the six-day reporting window as opposed to a traditional Friday-Sunday opening weekend.
Madame Web stars Dakota Johnson as a clairvoyant paramedic, with a cast that also includes Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O'Connor, and Adam Scott.
Beyond Madame Web and the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, some of Sony's other Spider-Man universe films have included Venom, Venom 2, Morbius, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Venom 3 is set for release later this year and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is also on the way.
