Open-World Camper Simulator Outbound Is Getting A Closed-Alpha Very Soon

Those who sign-up for the game's newsletter will have a chance of being invited on April 14
To access the closed alpha, players will need to sign-up for the game's newsletter through the Outbound website. Starting on April 14, random subscribers will be selected to join the playtest.
"The closed alpha is an early build of the game and we want to test mechanics and overall stability with a limited number of players," the developer, Square Glade Games, stated in a post on Steam. "With a little bit of luck, you can also join!"
While Square Glade Games says most of the game's features--including cooking, vehicle and player upgrades, environmental puzzles, collectables, and more--are part of the alpha, there are still more features currently in the works. Those features, which are slated to ship as part of the game's launch, including fishing, bee-keeping, more biomes, additional character customization options, a dog companion, and full controller support.
Outbound players start with an empty camper van powered by renewable energy and a dream. Over time, players can scavenge materials to craft upgrades and make the camper self-sufficient with more advanced technology and the ability to create gardens of plants that can be used for food.
The game raised nearly $300,000 in September 2024 on Kickstarter, after which Square Glade Games promised to add additional features like fishing and the game's dog companion. Though Outbound doesn't have an official release date, its "estimated delivery" date on Kickstarter is January 2026. It is planned to release on PC as well as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, with the caveat that its console release date may differ from its PC release.
