Ubisoft explains why Assassin's Creed Shadows has been pushed back after canceling the game's press event

Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed Until Early 2025

Following the news, Ubisoft made a formal announcement to the company's investors that Assassin's Creed Shadow is "feature complete," but the recent response to Star Wars Outlaws convinced the developer to use the additional time to "enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition." Star Wars Outlaws also launched with much softer sales than Ubisoft expected, and the company clearly doesn't want Shadows to suffer the same fate.

As part of the announcement, Ubisoft also noted that Assassin's Creed Shadows will not be following the company's usual season pass model. Instead, anyone who preordered the game will get the first expansion for free, and all players will be able to jump into Assassin's Creed Shadows' recreation of feudal Japan on February 14. It will also be available on Steam at launch, which marks a shift in Ubisoft's recent business strategy.
