Alex Garland's Warfare Coming To 4K Blu-Ray Next Month
Warfare's 4K and standard Blu-ray editions launch July 1
Director Alexander Garland's latest film, Warfare, is an intense military thriller inspired by real-world events experienced by the movie's co-director, Ray Mendoza, during the Iraq War. Produced by A24, the movie premiered earlier this year to strong critical reception, and now the upcoming 4K Blu-ray edition is available to preorder for $35 at Amazon ahead of its July 1 release. A standard Blu-ray release is also available to preorder for $30.
The Warfare 4K Blu-ray Edition includes six collectible postcards showing off behind-the-scenes photography shot by photographer Murray Close. There's also a commentary track with Garland, Mendoza, and military consultant Brian Philpot, and a making-of featurette.

Preorder at AmazonWarfare is not a gung-ho action flick, as the events of the film are based on the experiences of Mendoza and his squadmates, offering a sobering and realistic portrayal of ground combat during the Iraq War filtered through the intense directorial style Garland is known for. The movie is set shortly after the Battle of Ramadi in 2006 and follows the Navy SEAL Alpha One platoon as they track down a group of insurgents plotting an attack. The film features an ensemble cast with D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs) starring as Mendoza, along with Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), Kit Connor (Heartstopper), Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Charles Melton (River Dale), Noah Centineo (Black Adam), and Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) portraying various members of SEAL Alpha One platoon.
Warfare is the latest work in Garland's long-running career, which started with a short stint as a novelist before writing cult-classic films like 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Dredd, then transitioning to the director's role with the acclaimed sci-fi films Ex Machina in 2014 and Annihilation in 2018. His other movies include the surrealist horror movie Men and the political action-thriller Civil War.
