Welcome to the Ripatorium

Doom Eternal Mod Support Is Now Live, Alongside Doom: The Dark Ages Horde Mode

With the addition of official mod support, the game's main menu has changed, allowing for players the option to start a new save game with or without mods, as well as an in-game mod interface that allows users to browse, download, and arrange the load order of selected mods. More than 700 mods are already available, Id said.

Not to be left out, Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest installment in the franchise released in May, is also receiving some love in the form of a wave-based arena mode called the Ripatorium, where players will have granular control over the mode's time limit, music, enemy types, numbers of waves, and more. Players can earn a new Doom Slayer skin for completing Ripatorium arenas.

A look at Doom: The Dark Ages' tweakable Ripatorium enemy encounter options.

In Doom: The Dark Age's campaign, Id has made adjustments to weapon-swap speeds, improvements to blocking, and the ability to adjust the amount of slow-mo displayed when performing melee attacks and parries, allowing players to speed up or slow down the flow of combat. Additional changes include weapon balance changes, tweaks to the campaign's music to better align with combat encounters, and adjustments to the game's dragon and Atlan mech segments to improve their flow. You can find the full list of changes as part of Doom: The Dark Ages' latest update here.

Id previously increased the challenge of Doom: The Dark Ages' Nightmare difficulty, while a previous update added path tracing to further up the game's visual fidelity.

GameSpot's Doom: The Dark Ages review said the latest entry in the storied FPS franchise takes "the series in a wholly new direction that redefines the rules of engagement" and is a finely-tuned adventure that delivers the power fantasy of ripping and tearing through thousands of demons," even if its dragon and mech levels lack depth.
