There were four major recalls for the week of April 28, 2025, including one from a popular grocery store chain.
Trader Joe's Sesame Miso Salads with Salmon were pulled from shelves in 18 states over undeclared milk. Chocolate-covered macadamia nuts from Mauna Loa were also recalled for undeclared allergens: almonds and cashews.
Three different breads from Upper Crust Bakery LP were also recalled over shards of glass on top of the loaves, and rolled oats produced by Grain Millers were recalled for plastic contamination.
Here's what to check your kitchen for this week.
Trader Joe's Salad
On Monday, Trader Joe's voluntarily recalled 500 of their Sesame Miso Salads with Salmon, sold in stores in 18 states, due to an undeclared allergen: milk.
The recalled salads, which were produced by Taylor Fresh Foods Illinois, were mistakenly packaged with a packet of parmesan cheese crumbles—instead of the packet of crispy onions the salads are supposed to come with.
People with an allergy or sensitivity to milk should not consume this product, as eating the recalled salads could cause an adverse reaction. For people who can consume milk, the salads are otherwise safe to eat.

Bread
Earlier this month, Upper Crust Bakery LP recalled three different breads sold in six states due to glass fragments found on top of the loaves.
Last Friday, the FDA gave the recall the second-highest risk level, Class II, which means that eating the recalled bread may cause "temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences" or that "the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
The FDA did not provide specific instructions for consumers who have the recalled bread. However, as a Class II recall, the safest option is not to eat the affected products.

Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company voluntarily recalled batches of dark chocolate-covered macadamias on Saturday due to undeclared allergens. The products, sold at retailers in 17 states and Guam, may contain almonds and cashews.
People with an allergy or sensitivity to almonds or cashews are at risk of severe allergic reactions if they eat this product. To date, no adverse reactions have been reported in connection to the recalled macadamias.
Consumers with an almond or cashew allergy should not eat the nuts, and should instead return them. The product is otherwise safe for people who can eat almonds and cashews.

Rolled Oats
Grain Millers, a major oats supplier, has recalled more than 63,000 pounds of rolled oats in two states due to foreign object contamination. The oats, which were distributed in bulk, may contain plastic.
Last Tuesday, the FDA gave the recall a Class II risk level, and the FDA terminated the recall last Friday.
However, the affected oats may still be in consumers' homes. The FDA did not provide specific instructions for consumers, but if you suspect you have the recalled oats, the safest option is not to eat them—return them or throw them away.
