His sweet nickname for the former first lady made a return.
Barack Obama Just Wished His ‘Love’ and ‘Best Friend’ Michelle Obama a Happy Birthday
Barack Obama certainly has a way with words.
Though the former president is known for rousing political speeches and thoughtful reflections on our nation, he kept things short and sweet in celebration of his wife Michelle Obama's 57th birthday.
Despite his brevity, the message was full of love. "Happy birthday to my love, my partner, and my best friend,” he wrote alongside a stunning throwback photo of the former first lady on January 17. “Every moment with you is a blessing. Love you, Miche.”
This is not the first time Barack has referred to Michelle as “Miche” in a loving tribute. Back in November 2020, the 44th President of the United States explained why he dedicated his memoir, A Promised Land, to his wife and two daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama. "I’m reminded constantly that there’s no place in the world I’d rather be than with Miche and our girls—and it’s why I’ve dedicated my memoir to them,” he wrote in a touching Instagram tribute.
In the post, Barack Obama reflected on his time balancing the responsibilities as a dad with his position in the White House. “The fact that my own father was largely absent from my childhood helped shape my ideas about the kind of father I intended to be,” he shared. “When Malia was born, I made a promise to myself that my kids would know me, that they’d grow up feeling my love keenly and consistently, knowing that I’d always put them first.”
“While serving as President, I made sure to have dinner with Michelle, Sasha, and Malia every evening by 6:30. We’d eat some good meals and catch up on our days,” he continued. “Seeing them grow up into the intelligent, strong, and compassionate young women they’ve become has been the greatest joy of my life.”
The caption was featured alongside a family photo as well as the official dedication page of his memoir, which reads, “To Michelle—my love and life’s partner and Malia and Sasha—whose dazzling light makes everything brighter.”
