We love a supportive ex!
Ben Affleck Just Gave the Sweetest Interview About Jennifer Lopez
Ben Affleck has only kind things to say about his ex, Jennifer Lopez.
Lopez—a singer, actor, producer, dancer, skincare entrepreneur, and all-around renaissance woman—was profiled for the latest issue of InStyle, wherein Affleck recalled, “I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts.” In addition to being engaged at one point, he and Lopez costarred in 2003's Gigli and 2004's Jersey Girl.
Affleck continued, “She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I've come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I'm so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”
On a slightly more superficial but still complimentary level, he added, “Where are you keeping the fountain of youth? Why do you look the same as you did in 2003, and it kind of looks like I'm in my 40s…at best?” Lopez responded to this, diplomatically, “Ben is funny! He still looks pretty good too.” (To be fair, Affleck is in his 40s It's not bad to look like you are in your 40s when you are in your 40s. Hollywood is weird!)
The sweetest part? Affleck wasn't dishing to promote a new project or product. He gave the quote to InStyle…because J.Lo was on the cover. They called him for a comment, and he was happy to praise her. Now that's a supportive ex!
But Ben Affleck wasn't even the biggest A-lister to sing Jennifer Lopez's praises. That honor belongs to none other than former first lady Michelle Obama, who reiterated that Lopez has “an unparalleled work ethic.” Obama said whether the pop icon is "working to improve health care for mothers and children, encouraging more people to vote, or singing her heart out at a presidential inauguration, [she] has always known that life is best when it's shared with others.”
We always knew the Hustlers star could hustle!
