There is a LOT of social pressure to get married and that’s doubly true for celebrities. When thousands, maybe even millions of people’s parasocial relationships rely on you matching up with the correct other famous person, that can result in a lot of pestering, particularly online.
Celebrities who haven't walked down the aisle and never married
Whether they’ve been with a partner for 20 years or just never had a very long relationship, here is our list of 15 celebrities who haven't walked down the aisle and never married.
Kristin Davis

Kristin Davis of Sex and the City fame is quite different from her character in the show. These days she’s more concerned with caring and providing for her adopted child than getting married.
In 2013, she spoke on the topic of marriage, saying, "I certainly intellectually feel like I'd like to have another romantic relationship, but I don't know how to make the day-to-day of it happen. I don't have time!.. Now I have a baby and I have to put her first and think about what she needs, and stability is a huge, huge part of that."
Oprah Winfrey

Oprah is one of the most powerful women on the planet. It’s no surprise that her relationship status has been the subject of news coverage for years but her reason for not wanting to marry her long-time partner is certainly interesting.
In a 2020 interview, Oprah said of her partner, “He’s never demanding anything from me like, 'Where’s my breakfast? Where’s my dinner?' Never any of that, which I believed would have changed had we married.”
According to her quote, it seems like Oprah thinks that marriage would change her relationship with her partner Graham for the worse so she’d prefer to keep things just as they are.
Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is a well-known actor that has been in the business since the mid-90s. She has also never been married and her reason for it is pretty sobering.
Theron explained in a 2019 interview, “I haven’t been in a relationship for a very long time… I never wanted to get married. Those are things that are not hard for me, because they're innately my truth. I find people are somewhat perplexed by that, and also more with women, right?"
She’s certainly correct that others seem to struggle to wrap their heads around the fact that marriage just isn’t right for some people, and that seems to especially be true for women.
Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton is another famous actor and filmmaker who just never really bothered. It seems that marriage was never right for her according to this 2019 quote. “I don’t think it would have been a good idea for me to have married, and I’m really glad I didn’t, and I’m sure they’re happy about it, too.”
It’s unclear how life would have been different if she had gotten married but, ultimately, if it wasn’t right for her, then it’s for the best that she stayed single.
Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson is, evidently, a difficult man to pin down. He hasn’t often spoken on the topic of marriage and whether or not he ever intends to go through with it.
Wilson has had several children but never married any of their mothers and seems to be content with just being their father.
Jon Hamm

Jon Hamm seems to be perfectly happy remaining unmarried.
Even when he was happily together with his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, he didn’t seem to have any interest in marrying, saying in a 2010 interview, “I don’t have the marriage chip, and neither of us has the greatest examples of marriages in our families. But Jen is the love of my life, and we’ve already been together four times longer than my parents were married.”
John Cusack

John Cusack is well known as a smooth actor and screenwriter but has never been married. In his usual defiant manner, when asked to describe why he hadn’t yet married in five words or fewer, Cusack responded, “I can do it in seven: ‘Society doesn't tell me what to do.’”
Ricky Gervais

Ricky’s feelings on marriage obviously are similar to that of his partner, Jane Fallon, although he went into some more specifics during their interview. And, in classic Ricky Gervais fashion, his reasoning is a bit more, scathing.
“Don’t see the point. We are married for all intents and purposes, everything’s shared and actually, our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one ... but there’s no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God.” Sees marriage as tied to religion and is generally against the concept.
Lauren Graham

Lauren Graham has been with Peter Krause since around 2010 and in 2014 she shared her feelings on marriage, saying, “I feel like close to five years in Hollywood, it’s like, aren’t we married already really? It’s good the way it is.”
It seems as though Graham feels it’s not really necessary for her and Krause to get married and that she’s happy with the way things are.
Al Pacino

Al Pacino is unlikely to ever get married at his age and, when asked in 2020, he gave the most Al Pacino response imaginable. When asked why he never married, Al Pacino said, “Why I never proposed in the past? I hate to say this, but marriage is a state of mind, not a contract. When I think about the law and marriage, I ask myself, when did the cops get involved?”
It seems as though Al Pacino’s negative thoughts on marriage stem from their connection to government and possibly his own history, coming from a broken home.
Jane Fallon

Jane Fallon and Ricky Gervais have been together for nearly 40 years and it seems like their relationship is as strong as ever. To them, marriage just seems to be an unnecessary formality.
Jane Fallon shared her thoughts on the possibility of marriage a few years ago, saying, “It's just irrelevant. Our 'marriage' has lasted longer than most marriages.”
Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio often has his dating habits made fun of as his girlfriends never seem to exceed the age of 25, but his thoughts on marriage are actually quite sweet.
When asked about the possibility of marriage, DiCaprio had this to say, “That time will come when that time comes. The truth is, you can’t predict marriage. You can’t plan it. It’s just going to happen when it happens."
Maybe one day DiCaprio will find that special someone, but for now, he’ll have to continue to endure the jabs at his dating tendencies.
Seth MacFarlane

Seth Macfarlane of Family Guy fame is 48-years-old and has also never married but it isn’t for any ideals or moral reasons.
Macfarlane has logistical concerns about romance and marriage in Hollywood, saying, “I'm wide open to getting married, but actors are not easy people to date. You end up sharing that person with this other mistress that is their career. I very much like the traditional courtship method of making a date. That's what they do in normal places, but Hollywood's not normal.”
Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves, affectionately dubbed “the internet’s boyfriend” has always had something of an awkward charm to him. Everybody loves Reeves and has since his breakout role in The Matrix, but Keanu Reeves’ history with romance is complicated.
Tragedy took Reeves’ first child in the late 1990s and the child’s mother Jennifer Syme also passed away not long after the two had broken up. More recently Keanu Reeves has started dating Alexandra Grant, but the possibility of marriage is completely unknown.
Winona Ryder

Wynona Ryder is an accomplished actor and academy award nominee. When the question of marriage comes up, Ryder is explicitly against it.
According to Wynona Ryder, she’s just afraid of the possibility of divorce, as she explained in a 2020 interview. “I'm a serial monogamist. But marriage? I don't know. I'd rather never have been married than been divorced a few times.”
