Chrissy Teigen Posted a Pic of Her Endometriosis Surgery Scar: ‘Love Yourself’

"Bitch has been throuuugh it."

Model, mom, and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen spent this past Valentine's Day practicing self-love as she heals from painful endometriosis surgery. On Sunday, February 14, she posted a mirror selfie showing her abdomen, which is still bandaged from her medical procedure. Teigen held up her breasts with one arm, revealing the scars from her breast implant removal surgery as well. A raw and honest self-portrait. Hey, that's Chrissy.

The road to recovery hasn't been a quick one but, per People, Teigen is now in less pain. "This one's a toughie. My whole belly got numbed…It makes it hard, every little cough and stuff. But it is truly still better than the contractions and the pain of endo," she reportedly said.

Teigen captioned the snap, “Happy Valentine's Day. Love yourself!! Bitch has been throuuugh it.” After losing her son, Jack, due to pregnancy complications, Teigen said she could “still feel kicks” in her stomach. As his due date in mid-February approached, Teigen opened up about her and Legend's ongoing emotional journey.

She told Ellen DeGeneres, "Being Thai and being raised in a house that was very open about loss, I think it was really helpful because I see it as—it can be a beautiful thing. It was a really transformative thing for me, and in a way, it really saved me, because I don’t think that I would’ve discovered therapy and then sobriety and this path of feeling good about myself and feeling like a new person.”

Chrissy Teigen also recognized that not everyone has those same supports, saying, “You think about all the people that go through it in silence and you get really sad for them…Ours was so public; so, so many people were so supportive. You really gain this incredible amount of empathy. And I really, somehow, think I’m a better person now. And I just have the best support system ever.”
