She says followers “really misinterpreted” her tweet.
Chrissy Teigen Responds to Fans Criticizing Her New Horseback Riding Hobby
There are a lot of activities celebrities receive backlash for doing, but horseback riding typically isn’t one of them—until now.
Chrissy Teigen tweeted on January 16 that her therapist advised her to take up a new hobby as a way to have something just for herself. “My therapist says I need something that I do for just me, as I have absolutely nothing currently lol,” she tweeted. “Today begins my journey into the horse world.”

At first glance, you’d think most people would maybe hit like, keep scrolling, and continue with their days. But, no…some of Teigen's followers (she has more than 13 million, by the way) took offense to her tweets.
“A lot of people are unemployed and struggling to feed their family in the midst of a pandemic. Maybe now isn’t a great time to say you ‘have nothing’ so you bought a horse to entertain yourself,” one critic tweeted in response. To this, Teigen clarified, “a lot of u really misinterpreted this tweet and I guess that’s on me. I didn’t say I have nothing, I said I have nothing I do for just me. A convo with a therapist. A hobby. Cause I lost a baby. And I’m figuring myself out. And i didn’t buy a horse. But oh my god, what if I did?”

Chrissy Teigen experienced a pregnancy loss in September 2020. She first opened up about this publicly via an Instagram post, explaining she and husband John Legend had already picked out a name for the baby boy: Jack.
But despite her explanation about why she’s started riding horses, her followers continued to judge:

She ended her series of tweets with this: “What do you want from me, an essay about me, thinking about you? It’s my Twitter. I’m talking about me?”
