“I'm sorry. I can't. Don't hate me.”
Donald Trump Left Joe Biden a Note at the White House—The Jokes Are Writing Themselves
No, Donald Trump didn't attend President Joe Biden's inauguration—but he did leave him a note at the White House.
White House spokesman Judd Deere confirmed to USA Today that former POTUS wrote new POTUS a message. The contents of it? Unclear, just that "it’s a letter between 45 and 46."
Mike Pence also left a note for Vice President Kamala Harris, according to USA Today. Again, we don't know what it says.
But the internet is certainly filling in the blanks, particularly about the note between Biden and Trump. Famous pop culture notes from Mean Girls, Sex and the City, and even SpongeBob SquarePants are being meme-ified—or should I say Trump-ified. Honestly, the jokes just write themselves at this point.

Donald Trump is the first president this century to not attend his successor's inauguration. He gave some vague, general remarks during his farewell speech, saying, “We were not a regular administration. I will always fight for you…. The future of this country has never been better. I wish the new administration great luck and great success.” Trump also added, “We will be back in some form,” which…sounds like a horror movie omen?
Biden, meanwhile, gave a powerful, impassioned speech at his inauguration. “This is democracy’s day,” he said. "A day of history and hope. Of renewal and resolve. Through a crucible for the ages America has been tested anew and America has risen to the challenge. Today, we celebrate the triumph not of a candidate, but of a cause, the cause of democracy. The will of the people has been heard, and the will of the people has been heeded. We have learned again that democracy is precious."
He later added, “I know speaking of unity can sound like a foolish fantasy these days, [but] unity is the path forward."
