Drew Barrymore Says She Got Back on a Dating App After Watching ‘Bridgerton’

Relatable.

On January 15, Drew Barrymore welcomed Bridgerton stars Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor onto her talk show to dish on the hit Netflix series. After asking the pair how they felt about their families watching the show's more R-rated moments—Dynevor did a lot of fast-forwarding when she watched with her grandparents—Barrymore revealed her own experience.

“I got back on a dating app during Bridgerton,” Barrymore told the stars. “I was like, ‘I’m not dead, I’m not dead.’” She continued to fan herself with her own Regency-era-inspired prop before admitting, “For me, that was a big step.”

A big step, indeed. During a September interview with Jane Fonda, who declared she's “swearing off men,” Barrymore said she's felt similarly since her third divorce in 2016. “I think I'm there and have been there for the past five years,” the Wedding Singer star said.

She continued, “I'm not closed for business, but I have been in exactly that mentality for the last five years, thinking, I just don't have the bandwidth, I just can't fit it in.” Well, maybe now she will!

Honestly, part of the appeal of The Drew Barrymore Show is the actor's ability to draw in Hollywood's A-list talent, particularly because, well, she's one of them. Still, that doesn't mean it's not fun to watch Barrymore fangirl over some fresh blood.

Of course, Bridgerton has become famous for its sex scenes, often accompanied by some orchestral rendition of a pop or R&B hit. In a recent Glamour interview, Bridgerton's intimacy coordinator, Lizzy Talbot, revealed there were so many sex scenes that they didn't all make it into the final cut.

“There were a lot more characters that had a lot more to do that you didn't actually get to see,” Talbot said. “I want to say nearly in the double digits.” Well, damn.
