Exclusive: This Documentary on Body Diversity Will Change the Way You Think About Yourself

So long, outdated beauty standards.

Today's reason for applause: We've got an exclusive look at the official trailer for body-positivity documentary Straight/Curve! As you may have read online by now, the film (set to release on Epix on June 21 at 8:00 P.M. EST) aims to redefine the beauty and size standards enforced by the fashion industry. More specifically, Straight/Curve's ethos is, as described by its director, Jenny McQuaile, "to examine the misconceptions around health and size, body shame, the lack of diversity in fashion and media, and the limited scope of education in fashion schools, among other issues."

The message will be brought to you with the help of influential plus-size models like Iskra Lawrence (above), Denise Bidot, Charli Howard, and Philomena Kwao (below). And while they're trying to create change within their industry, they're also taking the time to speak directly to viewers about their own body image issues. "Growing up, I would have loved to hear from models that they struggled with their body image, that perfect doesn't exist, and that real beauty is within us," says Lawrence. "Feeling like I could relate to the models I looked up to would have helped me feel a lot more comfortable with myself."

The film has also added major industry talent like Project Runway's Tim Gunn and Chromat designer Becca McCharen, as well as Claire Mysko, CEO of the National Eating Disorders Association—all of whom are important in rounding out this conversation. "We all have a role to play—every single one of us," says Kwao. "Especially in this age of social media, our voices are powerful! We sometimes underestimate the power of the conversation, but this community is powerful." With that, we say mark your calendars for June 21—and until then, watch the trailer on repeat, here:

Straight/Curve airs on Epix on June 21 at 8:00 P.M. EST.
