"I'm only her sister who's only concerned about her happiness."
Jamie Lynn Spears Breaks Her Silence on Britney's Conservatorship Testimony
Jamie Lynn Spears has broken her silence on her sister Britney's conservatorship testimony.
Following Britney's impassioned pleas to the court on June 23 to end the 13-year conservatorship put in place by her father, Jamie Spears, the star's younger sister has been facing backlash for her silence on the subject. But in an emotional new video posted to Instagram June 28, Jamie Lynn came out in support of her sister.
"I just want to take a second to address a few things," Jamie Lynn said, per People. She began by explaining her reasoning for being silent about the conservatorship publicly, saying she felt it “wasn't my place” to speak out until her sister was allowed to speak for herself. But now that Britney has opened up, she feels it's time to say her piece.
"Since the day I was born, I've only loved, adored, and supported my sister. I mean, this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bullshit. I don't care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has done so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way," the Zoey 101 star continued. "This situation does not affect me either way, because I'm only her sister who's only concerned about her happiness."

According to People, Jamie Lynn Spears claimed she made a "very conscious choice" to "only participate" in Britney Spears's life as a sister and does not consider herself an extension of her parents. “I paid my freakin bills since I was 10 years old,” she said. "Not that I owe the public anything, because my sister knows I love and support her... I'm not my family. I'm my own person. And I'm speaking for myself."
Jamie Lynn also addressed the criticism she's received from fans. "Maybe I didn't support the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you that I support my sister long before there was a hashtag, and I'll support her long after," she said. “…I'm so proud of her for using her voice. I'm so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her to do many years ago—oh, not in a public platform but just in a personal conversation between two sisters.”
“If ending the conservatorship or flying to Mars or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that 100% because I support my sister; I love my sister. Always have, always will,” she concluded. "As long as she's happy. So let's keep praying. That's all."
