“We're working through some things.”
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Announced They're Still Together Amid Breakup Rumors
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez refuted their breakup on March 13
“We are working through some things,” Lopez and Rodriguez said in a joint statement, which was obtained by People.
"They never officially broke up and talked about it but are still together. They hit a rough patch. But were not broken up," a source added, noting that rumors of an affair between Rodriguez and Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy "had no bearing on the rough patch at all."
"She's working in the Dominican Republic and he's in Miami so it's tough seeing each other especially with quarantining and COVID," the source explained. "But they want to try to stay together."
Reports that the couple broke up emerged on Friday, March 12. "This has been a long time coming," a source told People.
Rodriguez and Lopez got engaged in March 2019 and had plans for a wedding the next year—but the coronavirus changed everything.
“You know we’ve talked about so many different things cause we had to cancel the wedding last year because of COVID, because of the quarantine, and we actually did it twice, which people don’t know, where we had it in different times—first one canceled and then second one canceled as well—and so I don’t know,” Lopez told Access Hollywood in December 2020. “We kind of have let it go for a second.”
She continued, “I think we just feel like, ‘Let’s just wait it out.’ There’s no rush. We’re good. Everything’s cool. It will happen when the time is right. I feel like it’s not a huge priority to go and have a big wedding right now. That’s not what life is all about; life is about just enjoying each other and spending time and really being grateful for all of the things that we have. You know our health, our family, and being able to do all of these great creative things that we are doing. We are just super content right now with that and I think that’s where we should keep it right now.”
Jennifer Lopez is currently filming the movie Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez, meanwhile, is in Miami “getting ready for baseball season,” according to a source who spoke to Page Six.
We'll keep you posted with any and all updates.
