Kate Middleton Posts First-Ever Selfie Video
Kate Middleton shared her most candid video to date—a selfie, no less—while promoting the start of of Children's Mental Health Week.
According to the initiative's official website, this year's theme “Express Yourself” and on Sunday, January 31, the Duchess of of Cambridge released her first-ever selfie-style video in an effort to discuss the importance of expressing one's “thoughts, ideas and feelings."
“This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself—about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas, and feelings," she explained. "So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry, it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself."
The mom-of-three, who recently changed up her hairstyle, wore a navy beanie and matching quilted Barbour jacket in the clip, which was filmed from what appears to be her Norfolk home, Amber Hall, according to People, where she and Prince William are staying amid the pandemic.
In her message, Middleton also encouraged parents to “look after” themselves amid the ongoing pandemic so they can be "the very best versions" of themselves for their children.
The royal said, "And while this is Children's Mental Health Week there has never been a more important time to talk about parental wellbeing and mental health too. Last year you told me just how important this was that many of us find it hard to prioritize."

"This is a hugely challenging time for us all so please look after yourself too,” Middleton added. "Find those ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.”
Kate Middleton's video comes just days after she opened up about the challenges she's faced during lockdown and the many roles she's taken on, including teacher and hairdresser.
“As parents, we have day-to-day elements of being a parent, but, I suppose, during lockdown we've had to take on additional roles that others in our community and lives would have helped us with," she said during a video chat with a group of fellow parents.
Middleton added, “I have become a hairdresser in lockdown–much to my children’s horror."
"Make sure everyone looks after themselves — it's very hard to prioritize but it's definitely needed now more than ever," she continued. "It's important for our children that we look after ourselves too."
