Meghan and Harry Named Their Daughter After Diana and the Queen—and Twitter Is Emotional

Archie has a baby sister!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just gave the royal family a reason to celebrate.

On June 4, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child—a baby girl named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. In case it wasn't obvious enough, a statement from a representative for the royal couple confirmed that Archie's sister is, indeed, named after Queen Elizabeth II as well as Prince Harry's mother, Princess Diana

"Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home," the statement read, per People. "Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."

“This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” the statement continued. "The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family."

Of course, the touching ode to the women in Prince Harry's life is making people on Twitter emotional, especially after months of family turmoil.

“Love that Prince and Harry and Duchess Meghan have named their daughter after Princess Diana and Lilibet The Queen," one user tweeted. "A sweet nod to two of the (now four) most important females in his life. I'm sure Diana would be bursting with pride right now.”

“So amazing!! I absolutely love her name, it's so beautiful and so special,” another wrote. "Absolutely perfect!! Congrats to Prince Harry and Meghan."

One user added, “So happy for them! And a Gemini (born on my birthday). What more could you ask for?? A wonderful name and I will always have a special place in my heart for her.”

Though they have not shared a photo, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared their own statement on the Archewell website. “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili," they wrote. "She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
