This comes after reports saying the sisters-in-law have been trying to “build a relationship.”
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Are Reportedly ‘in a Better Place’ Now
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are reportedly in a better place, according to Us Weekly.
Rumors of a “feud” between the duchesses have swirled around for years, and Markle illuminated the dynamics between herself and Middleton during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. However, she did implore fans, “If you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t have to hate me.”
Now a source tells Us the “tensions have eased” between the two women. “Kate even sent Meghan a gift for the baby,” they say, referring to Markle’s daughter, Lilibet Diana, whom she welcomed in June. “They’re in a better place and have exchanged texts since the birth of Lilibet.”
In one particularly buzzy part of the Oprah Winfrey interview, Meghan Markle clarified a rumor that popped up before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Tabloids at the time reported the soon-to-be Duchess of Sussex made Middleton cry over a flower girl dress issue, but it turns out the reverse happened. Markle says Middleton made her cry. “A few days before the wedding she was upset about flower girl dresses and it made me cry,” Markle said. “It really hurt my feelings. It was a really hard week of the wedding. And she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing.”
However, an insider now tells Us Weekly, “The bridesmaids dress incident took place so long ago and [it] feels pointless to hold onto the anger. It’s wasted energy. They’ve called it truce.”
This comes after a source told Us Weekly in a June 30 article, “Kate has been reaching out to Meghan a lot more since [Lilibet] was born, she’s sending [notes and] gifts and trying to build up a relationship. The firm has been instructing staffers to reach out more to Harry and Meghan to get them to soften a bit.”
