Netflix’s New Dating Show, ‘Sexy Beasts,’ Is ‘The Masked Singer’ Meets ‘Love Is Blind’
Netflix is like the buffet of streaming services—there’s something for everyone. And nothing epitomizes this more than Sexy Beasts, its newest reality series. The show involves, wait for it, singles going on blind dates while dressed as…beasts? Animals? Mythological creatures? Major prosthetics are involved. Think Love Is Blind meets The Masked Singer.
The dating series will be narrated by Catastrophe star and comedian Rob Delaney, Variety reports. Based on a BBC Three show, Sexy Beasts will follow several people as they go on blind dates dressed head-to-toe in costume. At the end, they’ll unmask and see if their connection is strong enough for a real relationship.

Sexy Bests season one has six episodes and drops July 21 on Netflix; a second season of six more episodes comes later this year. “Making Sexy Beasts for Netflix has been an incredibly exciting process,” Simon Welton, creator and executive producer for Lion TV, told Variety. (Lion TV is working with Netflix on these two seasons of Sexy Beasts.) “With an international cast featuring some truly brilliant characters, a host of prosthetics which look extraordinary in 4K, and with Rob Delaney narrating, the viewers are in for a real treat. I hope the show puts a smile on peoples’ faces as they play along to discover who’ll fall in love with who, and what our cast all really look like.”
Lion TV chief content officer Nick Catliff said in a statement to Variety that Sexy Beasts is “fun, frivolous, and totally original.” He added, “It’s great to be working with a streamer that supports genuine creativity and risk-taking across the genres. Making an ambitious transatlantic dating show through the pandemic was a massive challenge for us all at Lion, but we are thrilled with the way it’s turned out.”
