Rihanna’s Brought Back Her Iconic Pixie Cut

Contrary to popular belief, this super-short cut has endless styling opportunities.

How can any of us possibly know peace when Rihanna is out here showing us a brand-new beauty look every five minutes (and looking better than we could ever hope to in every single one)? We can't—those are the hard facts. This time is no exception: On June 29, Rihanna revealed yet another new haircut via Instagram while revealing pieces from her Savage x Fenty Pride collection (which will actually support five different LGBTQ+ organizations).

This haircut, far different from her recent mullet, curtain bangs, and neon green highlights, is a super-short pixie cut. And yes, it's very similar to the pixie she had all the way back in the late 2000s…when she was still sweeping up awards for “Umbrella” (has it been that long?) and had a swooping, of-its-time side bang. It's even more similar to the pixie she subsequently brought back in 2012, which she paired with ahead-of-their-time baby bangs.

This time RiRi's pixie cut is cropped closer to her head than all of its predecessors, and without any bangs, by the looks of it. People might assume that a haircut this short wouldn't present many interesting or fun styling opportunities, but if there's anyone on earth who can prove that sentiment wrong, it's this woman. Take a look:

Needless to say, we can't wait to see how Rihanna styles this pixie—might we suggest some punky spikes or retro finger waves? She could adorn it with a crown à la Janelle Monáe or wear it white blonde as Zendaya has in the past. The possibilities are endless, as they always are with Rih.
