Just wait until Tom Felton hears about this!
Rupert Grint Will ‘Never Say Never’ to Another Harry Potter Movie
2020 has been a hard year for everyone, including Harry Potter fans. Thankfully, Rupert Grint has seemingly joined former co-star Tom Felton and TikTok teens as saviors of the franchise in the wake of J.K. Rowling's continued controversies.
It's been nearly a decade since the last Harry Potter movie was released in theaters—and since then, fans are still hoping it's not the last we've seen of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Grint as Harry, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.
However, on December 29, the 32-year-old actor gave fans some hope to hold on to by promising he would “never say never" to returning for another installment of the beloved film series.
In a new interview with ComicBook.com, the actor discussed the possibility of reprising the role of everyone's favorite red-headed wizard, Ron. "I don't know. I mean, never say never," he told the outlet. "I would never say, 'Absolutely no.'"
He continued, "It was a huge part of my life and I'm very fond of that character and their stories ... So yeah, I mean, I'd be up for it at the right time. I don't know what capacity that would be, but yeah, we'll see."
Grint's character does play a role in the series followup, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which takes place nineteen years after the events of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2. It chronicles the trio of wizards' lives as they work their way through the trials of adulthood and parenting.
Considering the members of the cast are still very close friends and often reunite another Harry Potter movie doesn't feel completely out of reach. In 2020, Rupert Grint and his former costars got together in honor of the 19th anniversary of the release of the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
The virtual event, which was hosted by Draco Malfoy actor Felton, featured appearances from Radcliffe, Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), and more.
Amid their reunion, Grint spoke about becoming a new dad and how he always broke into fits of laughter while filming scenes. "I remember on Potter it would always be the most inappropriate scenes, like Dumbledore's funeral was a particularly bad one. For some reason, I found that absolutely hilarious," Grint recalled, per E! News. “And yeah, once you start laughing, it's very hard to stop.”
Now, if only Grint would join Felton on TikTok.
