The old clip has resurfaced.
Sarah Silverman Addresses Her 2007 Roast Calling Britney Spears’s Kids ‘Beautiful Mistakes’
Sarah Silverman is the latest celebrity coming under fire after the release of Framing Britney Spears. In 2007 the comedian roasted the singer at MTV's Video Music Awards. She touched on numerous topics, including Spears's sons, performances, and overall image. A resurfaced clip from the event is circulating on Twitter and caused Silverman to respond to the criticism.
“Twenty-five years old, and she's already accomplished everything she's ever going to accomplish in her life,” Silverman says in the clip. “She's a mother. It's weird to think that just a few years ago on this very show she was this, like, sweet, innocent, little girl in slutty clothes riding around with a python.” She continues, “Have you seen Britney's kids? Oh my God, they are the most adorable mistakes you will ever see!”

After a fan specifically called her out, Silverman responded to the backlash on Twitter. “I was known then 4 roasts. MTV asked me to mini-roast Britney after her big performance. While she was performing I was having diarrhea & going over my jokes,” she tweeted. “Had no idea she didn't kill. Unfortunate. Art changes over yrs as we know more & the world changes.”
Some fans were still unsatisfied with her response since it wasn't an apology. “While the world is beginning to wake up and apologize for the shit Britney has been through even if they didn’t have involvement but have a heart yet, you got a few laughs for your work and you can’t display growth over the years and SIMPLY APOLOGIZE?” one fan wrote.

Another tweeted, “You know a simple apology would be nice but at this point it wouldn’t be sincere since you’ve already made excuses. Regardless of you being known for roasts. You should know the fine line between roasting and bullying, especially targeting a young girl goring through stuff.”

Sarah Silverman later tweeted, “I wish I could delete it but I can't. But you are posting it for people to see. So r u trying to be kind or right?”
Framing Britney Spears is now streaming on Hulu.
