Taylor Swift Just Joined TikTok: ‘Let the Games Begin’
TikTok, home to a surprising number of Taylor Swift doppelgängers, is now hosting the real deal.
On August 23 the actual Taylor Swift posted her first-ever TikTok to the song “Screwface Capital” by British rapper Dave. The “Cowboy Like Me” songwriter mouthed along to the lyrics, which includes the line “Swift like Taylor,” while cycling through outfits from her various eras.
She started with her look for Folklore, then changed into her jacket from the Evermore cover, then a little yellow dress for Fearless (Taylor's Version), and lastly her classic red lip and straight blonde hair for Red (Taylor's Version), which will be available on November 19, 2021.
“Lots going on at the moment: Red (my version) vinyl is up for presale on my site and oh I'm on TikTok let the games begin,” she wrote in the caption of the video.

Lots going on indeed! Since 2020, Swift has been busily rerecording her first six albums after her former label sold the master recordings to Scooter Braun, who later sold them to an investment group. While Fearless was the first on Swift's list, the singer announced in June that her iconic fourth studio album is the next in line, including a 10-minute version of the certified breakup banger, “All Too Well.”
“I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken,” she wrote in her statement at the time. “It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day, trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, the next album I'll be releasing is my version of Red."

“Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person,” Swift continued. “It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, I went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I'm not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.”
Click here for everything you need to know about the upcoming rerecorded album and be sure to follow her on TikTok. This is clearly the beginning of a wonderful new Swift era.
