Taylor Swift Says Her Re-Recording of 'Fearless' Is Coming—With 26 Songs

Her new version of “Love Story” drops on February 12.

Taylor Swift made a big announcement February 11 on Good Morning America: Her new version of “Love Story” drops February 12, and the re-recording of Fearless is coming.

“I'm so excited to share with you that tonight at midnight, I'll be putting out my version of my song ‘Love Story,’ which was originally on my album, Fearless," Swift told fans via selfie video.  "I've now finished re-recording all of Fearless, which will be coming out soon.  My version of Fearless will have 26 songs on it, because I've decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album, but I've now gone back and recorded those so everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it. The full picture.”

The new recording will be called Fearless (Taylor's Version). GMA revealed the album artwork as well:

“I’m thrilled to tell you that my new version of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is done and will be with you soon,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “It has 26 songs including 6 never before released songs from the vault. ‘Love Story (Taylor’s Version)’ will be out tonight.”

Fans, naturally, are now counting down the minutes:

So when can we expect the new album? Well, fans have noticed the capital letters in the message on her second slide from the announcement spell out APRIL NINTH…so, yeah, it's looking like April 9th. (For the Swift diehards, let me just point out: April 9. 4/9. 4+9=13. Thirteen is Swift's lucky number. It all connects!)

Taylor Swift is in the process of re-recording songs from her first six albums. A quick background on that:  In June 2019 we learned that Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings LLC had acquired Swift’s old record company Big Machine Label Group, and with it all the rights to her albums from the eponymous Taylor Swift (2006) to Reputation (2017). Swift and Braun have a contentious relationship, so this move made serious headlines. Then, Ithaca Holdings LLC sold Swift’s six albums to Shamrock Holdings for around $300 million.

“Artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most seemingly obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really knows that body of work,” she wrote on Instagram.
