Ted Cruz Blamed His Daughters For Trip to Cancun During Texas Storm Crisis

Twitter is roasting this “father of daughters.”

Texas Senator Ted Cruz just commented on his recent flight to Mexico amid a treacherous storm that has left hundreds of thousands of his constituents without power, heat, and safe drinking water

The disgraced senator—whose recent hits include spreading misinformation about election fraud which led to a riot at the U.S. Capitol—admits he took a flight to Cancun with his family, which was previously reported as a “long-planned family vacation,” per CNN and Fox News.

His excuse? Having daughters. “This has been an infuriating week for Texans...Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too,” Cruz said in his statement on February 18, per GMA. “With school canceled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”

“My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas,” Cruz continued. “We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe.”

So yeah, Cruz tried to place the blame on his daughters, Caroline and Catherine, which people on Twitter thought was absolutely ridiculous and disgusting. “Fathers be good to your daughters,” one Twitter user wrote. “Daughters you help fly to Cancun.”

“Finding out Ted Cruz's daughters are 10 and 12 makes this story even more unhinged,” another added.

“So fleeing a disaster at home fueled by a governance failure and seeking safe harbor for those he loves most, Ted Cruz decided it was best to help his family cross the border? Huh,” writer Jill Filipovic tweeted. Huh is right.

This is only the latest embarrassing moment for Ted Cruz in the wake of the crisis in Texas. The Senator admitted he had “no defense” after The Hill shared resurfaced tweets where Cruz mocked California during a period of power outages.

Can't blame his daughters for that one.
