The First 'Gossip Girl' Reboot Trailer Just Dropped

XOXOMG.

Someone's been keeping her eye on the Upper East Side! The first trailer for HBO Max's Gossip Girl reboot (well, continuation, technically) just dropped, and it looks as luxe, scandalous, and sexy as the original.

Narrated by OG GG Kristen Bell, the trailer sees the main characters at a party, sipping cocktails, and making sultry eyes at each other, before a phone alert scares them to attention. They've gotten too “comfortable,” the voiceover tells us, controlling their own narratives, presumably on social media. But the eponymous anonymous blogger is back to stir the pot and reveal the truth.

Xs and Os are highlighted throughout, as if we'd ever forget the iconic catchphrase.

Check out the chills-inducing first teaser, here:

HBO Max said in a press release of the new show, “This extension of the pop culture classic takes us back to the Upper East Side finding a new generation of New York private school teens being introduced to social surveillance nine years after the original blogger’s website went dark….[the show] explores just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years."

Thankfully, original costume designer Eric Daman is back, because this universe simply would not be the same without its high-prep style. Trends come and trends go, but the uniforms of St. Jude's and Constance Billard are forever, and we'll be damned if these Gen-Z socialites are caught dead in the secondhand mom jeans taking over TikTok. It's called couture, sweeties.

Starring Jordan Alexander, Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Tavi Gevinson, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Zion Moreno, Whitney Peak, and Savannah Lee Smith, the series is executive produced by Joshua Safran, and credit, of course, must be paid to Cecily von Ziegesar, who wrote the YA novels that inspired the first series.

Character posters for the series also split the main cast up into Xs and Os. Are the teams meaningful? There are secrets everywhere!
