Marvel just gave fans a sneak peek at their upcoming slate.
The First 'The Eternals' Footage Is Here—Including Glimpses of Angelina Jolie and Gemma Chan
Fans just got their very first peek at Marvel's upcoming immortal gods movie, The Eternals, directed by recently-minted Academy Award winner Chloé Zhao and starring Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, and Kumail Nanjiani.
The brief glimpse of the movie comes in the second half of a new Marvel trailer advertising the brand's upcoming slate. It includes narration about being together and experiencing stories as a group (yes, everyone misses the movie theater). Read it, below:
"I love being with people, that's the most incredible thing in the world. That world may change and evolve, but the one thing that will never change. We're all part of one big family. That man next to you, he's your brother. That woman over there, she's your sister. We're all part of one universe that moves ever upward and onward to greater glory."
Then, the video cuts to footage from opening night of Avengers: Endgame, with fans going crazy for that moment. And listen, as someone who has little to no emotional attachment to the Avengers, I have to admit that everybody returning from the dead to work as a team brought a small tear to my eye. It just works, damn it!
But what else is new? Well, a whole lot. The video then gives us glimpses of upcoming Marvel releases, some of which had been pushed back because of the pandemic, like Black Widow. The Eternals is among those featured, just after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Let's go shot by shot: Salma Hayek rides a horse; two people touch hands on a beach; Richard Madden, Chan, Nanjiani, Jolie, and Ma Dong-seok line up in the woods; Angie wields a sword; the movie is coming out in November! The voiceover tells us, “When you love something, you fight for it.” All told, it's less than 10 seconds of footage, which makes sense, given how far off the premiere date is.
But even this barely-there glimpse has the fans, shall we say, hype:

So, real talk, where can a girl get a glowing sword? Somewhere in the tri-state area, I hope.
