The Most Hilarious Moments From Anderson Cooper's Drunken New Year's Eve Special

Frankly, I can't think of a better way to start 2021 than with CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper getting absolutely sloshed on national television.

If you followed social-distancing guidelines on New Year's Eve, some of the last words you heard in 2020 were probably, "We'll be right back! Anderson's drunk!" What you need to know is that Bravo's Andy Cohen and his bestie Cooper joined forces to help America say “goodbye and good riddance” to 2020 on CNN's live New Year's Eve countdown. The hosts gave us the sendoff we truly deserve by pounding tequila shots throughout the night. Twitter couldn't help but notice that Cooper ended up having a memorable time.

"It burns, it burns," Cooper said as he took his first shot, per USA Today. The broadcaster claimed he doesn't typically drink.

“I watched every episode of Tiger King, Breaking Bad, Better Caul Saul, The Crown, Queens Gambit—yet with two hours left, this is the finest moment of television in 2020,” Judge Reinhold tweeted about the spectacle.

The rest of Twitter seemed to agree. “I think we all know what we deserve to end 2020,” one user added. Anderson Cooper and Don Lemmon three sheets to the wind wishing us a Happy New Years."

Here are the highlights from their raucous New Year's countdown.

Per USA Today, Cooper started the show by remarking on how surreal it was to be in Time's Square on New Year's Eve without the usual hordes of people. Cooper reportedly joked that he would be able to spot which performers were lip-synching on Seacrest's ABC New Year's Eve special and would keep his viewers posted.

“It is CRIMINAL that we have to wait a whole YEAR to see @Andy and @andersoncooper get drunk together on TV every year,” S.E. Cupp tweeted. “It's the event I need at least once a week. Make it so.”
