He compared growing up in the royal family to “living in a zoo.”
The Queen Is Reportedly ‘Unimpressed’ With Prince Harry After His Latest Interview
Prince Harry’s latest interview reportedly didn’t do him any favors with Queen Elizabeth II.
In a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, the Duke of Sussex described growing up in the royal family as “a mix between The Truman Show and living in a zoo.” He added, “The biggest issue for me was that being born into it, you inherit the risk. You inherit every element of it without a choice. And because of the way the U.K. media are, they feel an ownership over you.”
Well, according to sources speaking to Us Weekly, the queen took particular offense to this statement, which came just months after the explosive Oprah Winfrey interview that shook the royal family.
“The queen is unimpressed with Harry’s latest interview and found it hurtful. It hasn’t done their relationship any favors,” a source tells Us Weekly. “It definitely hasn’t helped with healing the rift.” As for Prince William and Prince Charles (who has reportedly been “freezing out” his youngest son), they are allegedly “livid,” according to the same source.
While this echoes previous reports that the royal family was “distressed and angry” over the zoo comment, a second source tells Us Weekly that the queen “still has a soft spot for Harry.”
In fact, in early May, it was reported that the British monarch is tired of Prince Charles’s attitude toward her grandson. “With the way things are going, Charles may never forgive Harry, which hasn’t gone down well with Elizabeth,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “She feels that he’s putting his pride before the best interest of the monarchy. She has enough on her plate dealing with the loss of her husband. It’s drama she can do without.”
The only one on the queen’s good side seems to be Prince William. “Elizabeth is proud of William for taking the dignified approach, unlike Charles, who still hasn’t forgiven Harry for dragging his name through the mud,” the source added.
