It takes more than a pretty Instagram post.
These 9 Brands Are Giving Back to the LGBTQ+ Community
The sun is shining, the world is opening up, and if we weren't in a big happy mood already, Pride Month is giving us even more cause to celebrate. In its 51st year, Pride continues to stand as a symbol for activism and joy—and with the tradition of brands giving back, right now is a great time to show up and support the LGBTQ+ community with your coin.
The LGBTQ+ community has made major strides for inclusivity in industries like entertainment, fashion, and beauty, but a lot of work still needs to be done for true representation and solidarity, especially for the Black LGBTQ+ community. We all know a pretty post on Instagram won't cut it: This moment calls for explicit commitments, and consumers want to see the receipts. So, in honor of Pride Month, we're taking a look at all the brands offering genuine support with pledges that have real dollar amounts attached.
From Ugg to Ouai to Parade, these 9 brands are not only moving the needle for LGBTQ+ representation but also showing that the days of performative allyship are over. Check them out below, and if you can swing it, use your money to make a positive impact—whether that's donating directly to nonprofits, shopping at LGBTQ-owned businesses, or putting your dollars toward brands giving back.
Beekman 1802
As a proudly gay-owned business, celebrating and supporting members of the LGTBQ+ community has always been at the core of Beekman 1802. But June is extra special for the brand's cofounders Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, as it's also their wedding anniversary. To honor this moment, the brand rolled out an exclusive Bloom with Pride Skincare Kit, with 100% of the profits from the skincare kits going towards the Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest non-profit organization aiding homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
Ouai
Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin is giving her scalp and body scrub a tropical update with notes of dragonfruit, tuberose, and orange blossom. Everything about it feels and smells like a vacation, so it's the perfect beauty product to add to your summer lineup. Best part? The brand will be donating $20,000 to the LA LGBT Center, a non-profit organization providing housing and essential health and social services to the LGBTQ+ community in Los Angeles.
