Watch Lady Gaga’s Stunning National Anthem Performance at Joe Biden’s Inauguration

Lady Gaga performed the national anthem at Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration on January 20, and it was stunning, obviously. The Chromatica singer sounded pitch-perfect, looked gorgeous, and put her own signature glitter on the storied ballad.

Watch the performance for yourself, below:

Lady Gaga has been a vocal supporter of Biden for a while now but especially last year leading up to the 2020 election. When he won, she posted a video to Instagram saying, “I’m so happy. Thank you so much to every American for participating in this election. Thank you so much for all the people who worked to move this country for change. I am so excited, congratulations to Joe.”

She added, “We really really are so happy and we have a wonderful president now. I hope you are all celebrating. I hope all the women know that there is a really exciting moment and change."

Gaga also said, “I hope that peoples’ voices who have been oppressed, I hope you know that your voices were heard. I am just, I am honestly kind of speechless… this is a very very special day.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Gaga has performed the national anthem. She iconically performed the song at the 2016 Super Bowl (one year before she did the halftime show) wearing a metallic red suit and matching dramatic eye makeup. Those blue nails? Her hair? Such a moment. That’s history.

Ahead of the 2021 inauguration, Lady Gaga posted to her Instagram, “I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls. Love, from the Capitol.”
