Watch the First Teaser For 'Outlander' Season 6: ‘The War. It’s Almost Here'
It's time to travel back in time, because Outlander is returning to our screens. The Starz fantasy-romance show just wrapped production on its sixth season, taking extra precautions to account for the COVID-19 pandemic. What can fans expect in the latest installment of this beloved drama? Here’s everything we know so far about what to expect in season six:
When is season six set?
With a time-hopping show like Outlander, the question isn't always what; it's often when. Unless there's more funny business with The Stones (and listen, there could always be more funny business with The Stones), the show picks up about where it left off: 1775, on the eve of the American Revolution. Of course, only Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and by extension her family, knows what will happen. Neither the colonists nor the British know that war is on the horizon, so it's up to the Fraser clan to navigate as best they can, protecting their home without altering the future too much.
Where does the new season take place?
Following an altercation with Lionel Brown at the end of the fifth season, Claire has returned to her home with Jamie (Sam Heughan) at Fraser's Ridge in what will become North Carolina. In this picture from set, we can see our leading lovers navigating the wild backcountry by horse-drawn cart:
Where was the new season filmed?
Scotland, actually! As you can see in this behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the sets and costumes, the Fraser homestead is being constructed both outdoors and on soundstage.
Yes! On October 9, Starz unveiled new art and the first teaser at New York Comic Con 2021.
While Sam Heughan, Executive Producer Maril Davis and Outlander author Diana Gabaldon joined the panel in person, cast members Caitriona Balfe, Sophie Skelton, Lauren Lyle, César Domboy, and John Bell were able to attend virtually from Europe.
