The South African-born comic is also host of "The Daily Show."
What to Know About 2021 Grammys Host Trevor Noah
Who is hosting the Grammys 2021? Well, that would be Trevor Noah, 37, the hilarious comedian and host of The Daily Show. Here's everything to know about this year's Grammys host:
If you're not familiar with his work, Noah is a South African-born comic who had toured internationally but wasn't exactly a household name when Jon Stewart named him as his Daily Show host successor. In addition to his hosting duties and stand-up specials, Noah's memoir, Born A Crime, about growing up biracial in the years following apartheid, was a bestseller. There were plans to adapt the book into a movie starring Lupita Nyong'o, though whether or not that's still happening isn't quite clear.
As far as gossip goes, we don't have much on our Grammys 2021 host. Noah keeps it pretty low-key and is reportedly dating Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly.
Throughout the pandemic, Noah has been hosting The Daily Show from his apartment in New York City, using his platform to speak openly about issues like education, white supremacy, and police brutality. Unlike some late night hosts, he hasn't returned to the studio at all. But to host the Grammys, he is traveling to Los Angeles; it was too exciting an opportunity to pass up. He told the Associated Press that the event, which will feature outdoor performances in a music festival-style set-up, will be more concert than award show.
“Unlike most award shows, the Grammys also are about the performances,” said Trevor Noah. “So, at the Oscars, you can’t have like Denzel (Washington) perform his movie. But the Grammys, you can have the artists perform their song…When you watch it, you won’t be spending the whole time like ‘Aww man, this is a pandemic show.’ Like no, this is one of your favorite concert shows.”
Now you have all the tea! When someone texts you on Monday, “Who hosted the Grammys 2021?” you'll know!
Like we said, the Grammys will happen this Sunday, March 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. And our Grammy host 2021 Trevor Noah is going to be so good!
